NEUE MERKER, Wien; Heide Müller She made her successful role debut as Tosca at the Musikfestival Steyr (singing with the tenor Warren Mok and Kammersänger Wicus Slabbert), Austria, followed by another Tosca engagement with Busan Grand Opera Company & Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra in South-Korea. Her first Festengagment was at the Theater Hof, Germany, and she guested in various theatres such as Südostbayerischen Städtetheater Passau, Mainfrankentheater Würzburg, Theater an der Rott, Freies Landestheater Bayern, Musiktheater Friedrichshafen (Zeppelin Haus), Konzerthaus Ravensburg, Salzburger Operettentheater and she toured with the Operettentourneetheater Hannover in Germany, Austria and in Switzerland. Roles included Violetta (La Traviata), Fiordiligi (Cosi fan Tutte), Konstanze (Entführung aus dem Serail), Pamina (Zauberflöte), Dorota in Schwanda der Dudelsackpfeifer an der Seite von Klaus Florian Vogt, Gilda (Rigoletto), Auguste (Ein Preußisches Märchen), Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus), Sylva Varescu (Die Csárdásfürstin), Lisa (Land des Lächelns), Countess Mariza und Saffi (Der Zigeunerbaron) a.o. Astrid Marie Lazar was also a guest soloist with the Sarasota Symphony Orchestra performing as part of the concert series ‘Salute to Vienna’ in various cities in Florida, and with the Munich Camerata & the Young Munich Symphonic Orchestra amongst others. She guested at Infinity Hall, Connecticut, US, with the programme “Heroines in Opera”, which she repeated in Germany. As an accomplished concert singer, Astrid Marie Lazar is also well at home on the oratorio and concert stage, singing a broad repertoire, which she has performed throughout Germany and the US. She has appeared with the Festival Campos do Jordão in Brazil where she represented American Opera in Concert and covered Violetta in La Traviata, and with the Opera Festival di Roma in Rome, Italy, where she sang the role of the Contessa in Le Nozze di Figaro. Amongst Ms. Lazar studies were several music festivals and prominent master classes, some of which with Ileana Cotrubas, Meredith Monk and Lucile Evans. She also was a participant at the “Münchner Singschul” (Munich Singing School), founded by August Everding. Various scholarships enabled her studies in the US, where she received a BA in Musical Arts and Vocal Performance from the Bowling Green State University, Ohio and a Masters Degree in Opera from the Hartt School of Music in Hartford, Connecticut. She gained first stage experiences with small companies in the New York City area, performing roles like Violetta in La Traviata, Juliette (Roméo et Juliette) and Donna Anna in Don Giovanni amongst others. |
